Tree Planting a Big Success

On Saturday 29th November Planet Aid UK held a volunteer tree-planting day in an agreement with the landowner of the Bulwick Estates. The day was a great success with approximately 1,000 trees being planted by over 50 people attending the day, many of whom live locally.

In the morning Labour MP Andy Sawford attended and participated by digging holes and planting a number of oak trees. Afterwards he had this to say about the event. ‘I was really pleased to be invited. This is a great partnership between Planet Aid and Bulwick Estates in my constituency and it’s good to see so many people from the local community, including some people from Corby, along with others from further afield coming along to help out’

Others attending included Ashok Nathwani of Yoga 4 Health (who helped fund the event), and Judy Caine of The Oakley Rangers (a volunteer youth group based at Oakley Vale Community Centre), along with Helen Rees and four young Rangers.

Other companies sponsoring the event included Smith, Hodge and Baxter Chartered Accountants and Wilson Browne Solicitors, both based in Kettering as well as Van Monster, a nationwide company selling quality used vans to businesses and private individuals.

So far this year our organisation, Humana People to People, has planted over 11 million trees in projects implemented by them in Africa, India and Latin America
